Duties and Responsibilities

1. Representing clients in court or before administrative agencies
2. Attending to client appointments and taking instructions
3. Preparing briefs and other legal documents for filing or trial
4. Liaising with counsel, experts, witnesses, and other parties involved in the case
5. Researching legal concepts, case law, statutes, and regulations
6. Providing legal citation and statutory interpretation
7. Preparing all documents required to file cases, including briefs and other court documents
8. Working closely with team members to prepare a comprehensive brief on each case that goes to trial
9. Scheduling and conducting depositions of witnesses and experts
10. Researching legal concepts, case law, judicial opinions, statutes and regulations
11. Providing proper legal citation and statutory interpretation
12. Maintaining accurate case files, notes and reports
13. Negotiating cases to meet the needs of the firm and the client
14. Making sure all parties are carrying out their court order sentence and paying the necessary fines
15. Writing legal documents such as contracts, lawsuits, deeds, wills and appeals.

 Required Skills, Qualifications AND Competencies

1. Minimum of 2-5years of legal experience in a law firm or corporate in-house position; drafting and negotiating contracts in an energy/construction/contracts environment or equivalent litigation of same.
2. Strong negotiation skills, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple demands at the same time.
3. Strong Customer Orientation.
4. Pragmatic approach to problem-solving and strong flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
5. Team player who can also work independently and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
6. Able to communicate clearly and concisely with a range of colleagues, business partners, and senior executives.
7. Excellent communication, writing, and facilitation skills.
8. e with a strong sense of discretion to keep sensitive information secure and private
9. Excellent interpersonal communication skills when working with clients, members of the court and other employees
10. Strong organizational abilities and time management skills to handle many cases at once
11. Workable knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet tools, presentation software and other technologies
12. Good research skills and techniques, including using case studies to make supporting claims and arguments
13. Knowledge of various legal contracts, documentation, processes and policies
14. Analytical ability, logical reasoning and sound judgment when professionally handling their clients’ cases
15. In-depth knowledge of their legal specialty, including tax law, real estate, environmental justice and criminal law, family law.
